For someone who has been traveling quite a bit in the past few years, I have picked up a few tricks and tips along the way. If you’re someone like me who prefers stress-free travels, no make up, hydrated skin and being comfortable at the same time then this is a post for you. The most important thing for me is my carry-on case being organized, imagine routing through your things trying to find what you’re looking for as the person next to you is watching you and other people are trying to squeeze past moving you along in to your seat but you cant get in as your carry-on is in the way, yes been there done that and its not cool.
For the first time I actually wanted to travel lightly and minus the faff with big bags. I usually have my Prada double bag with me but with this upcoming trip with my partner I did not want to carry an extra bag as we had additional flights to catch during our trip. On one side of the carry-on I would have extra pair of clothes, leggings and a T-shirt with my plane beauty essentials (pouch) and on the other side it would have my laptop, headphones and a book/magazine.
Never put your valuables in your checked bags, thats the last thing you want to do. Trust me, Ive been there and it wasn’t a fun experience. Short story time, not long ago on my flight to LAX, my luggage decided to not come with me and I was stuck with my carry-on case which wasn’t much help as I had leftover food my mum gave me, my laptop and extra underwear. No charger, no clothes, no shoes other than the boots I was wearing. Bear in mind I was traveling on my own for the first time, going to see my partner and meeting his family for the first time! and here I am standing in my joggers and hoody (the plan was I’de get changed at his then make my way to meet his family). Oh yeah did I mention that I had missed my flight from London to LAX prior to this, I know! Fast Forward : Ended up in WALMART! to purchase the basics as British Airways was kind enough to give a $50 refund.
48 hours later… there was my baby, untouched waiting for its mama.
Extremely SHORT version: Jewelry, bags, expensive shoes should be kept in your carry-on case.
Along with your gadgets you should always travel with extra pair of clothes, because you just don’t know when you are going to need them. I usually pack a change of clothes for in flight travel so leggings and a t-shirt (or already have them on) and also pack extra clothes like a jumper or a top. You just don’t know if you’ll be going straight to dinner or meeting the man of your dreams 😅. Personally I find planes extremely cold, so a good ole jumper and thick socks always helps with two layers of blanket.
Hamdullah I am blessed with normal skin but when it comes to flights it completely dries out due to the air being re-circulated and sucking moisture from where ever it can. I prefer traveling with a make up free face, as its just easier for me to start my beauty regime and get comfortable. Glamglow thirsty mud works wonders, the consistency is thick and clear so the person next to you will have no idea you have a mask on or if you are feeling daring then a Sheet mask made for hydration is a great option too as the deep layers in the skin can drink up all the goodness from the mask (thats how I like to imagine it 💦). Followed by a Biossance serum with rose oil, this is great for an extra layer of moisture to the skin. Once massaged in to the skin I then would use the Estee Lauder revitalizing supreme face creme to lock everything in to the skin. Some lip balm, hand lotion and you’re good to go for the rest of the flight.
Before landing I tend to freshen up with Ole Henrikson brightening wipe, brush my teeth and moisturize. Once landed I will spray Avene Eau Thermal all over my face for a cool mist. Like I said before this is a 16 hour flight so I am going to need as much hydration and moisture I can get other than drinking a lot of water.
